Family-Fun Thanksgiving Activities Benefit Make-A-Wish

November 24, 2016

Thanksgiving means so many things to say many different people. For some, it is a time to give thanks for all the blessings in life. For others, it is the perfect day to give back to the community. While some folks enjoy the company of family on Thanksgiving, others look forward to the feast and the football games. However you celebrate Thanksgiving, here are some kid-friendly activities to try this year.

Turn Your Table Cloth Into A Coloring Book

This Thanksgiving you can be grateful for your kids’ creativity. While you and your loved ones prepare the big meal, give the kids a chance to prepare a meal of their own. First, replace your ordinary table cloth with a large sheet of coloring paper. Then, let the kids’ imaginations soar. They can color anything from a basic Thanksgiving meal with turkey and stuffing to something crazy liked cooked dragon or a turkey made of ice cream. When the meal is finished, compare the two products, and tell the kids which one you would rather eat.

Play A Game Of Drumstick Hunt

Drumstick hunt is hide and seek with a Thanksgiving edge. First, make the drumsticks by shaping a brown paper bag and white napkins into giant drumsticks. Make enough for every participant but one—the person hiding them doesn’t need one. Then, the one hiding the drumsticks goes around the house and places them. The first person to find one gets to choose to hide them the next round or give the responsibilities to the last person.

Share Your Thanks Before The Feast

Before everyone digs in, take an opportunity to gather around the table and share the things for which you are each thankful. Simply go around in a circle and say one thing you are thankful for. To add some spice to this tradition, consider making a fun game of it! Each time someone says their thanks, the next person has to recite their thanks and everyone else’s thanks before them. The last person to slip up is the first person to eat!

Give Thanks By Giving Back

Some families may have a hard time giving thanks due to their child dealing with a critical illness. An easy way to help these families is by donating your unwanted vehicle to Wheels For Wishes. When you donate to Wheels For Wishes, the proceeds benefit Make-A-Wish, helping to make dreams come true for children and their families.
